This is the webpage of the Emmy Noether research group on "Mediating (Semi-)Authoritarianism - The Power of the Internet in the Post-Soviet World".  The project (2014-2021) is financed by the German Research Foundation DFG and affiliated with the University of Passau.

The research group is headed by group leader Dr. Florian Toepfl. It investigates the interrelations of internet-mediated communication and politics in the post-Soviet region, with a strong comparative focus on three countries: Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus.

The research project, and its principal investigator Dr. Florian Toepfl, have moved in November 2019 from the Institute for Media and Communication Studies at Freie Universität Berlin to start a new Research Unit for Political Communiation at the University of Passau.
